Dark River Moon Jar

$1,800

Mugly.NYC's elegant take on the moon jar is handmade from black sculpture clay. Each one is mysterious in its minimal and refined nature. Traditional Korean moon jars made during the Joseon Dynasty were made with white porcelain, resembling a full moon. Ilona Golovina's dusky design calls to mind the new moon.

The Brand

Ilona Golovina is a ceramic artist living in New York and the creator of the lifestyle brand Mugly.NYC. In her work, Ilona emphasizes irregularity, her shapes are asymmetrical and her textures are rough. Inspired by ancient ceramics, she intentionally leaves imperfections to imbue her work with a timeless feel. The textures, flaws, and unique variations transform the mundane into pieces both human and poetic. Ilona’s work has been exhibited in New York City, Milan, and Athens, and has been featured in the New York Times, AD Italy, and Domino magazine.
